How It Works

EcoAmigo Hostels accepts all hostels, hotels and 'rent a room' establishments that desire a free listing and internet presence.

The site contains a voting system, so that good establishments move to the top of the listings and lesser establishments move down.

In summary, we allow any hostel to join the site, and give the customers the power to determine who deserves to be top rated.

Its called a Natural Selection Reservation System.

Why

Traveling the world we encountered many good and many bad hostels, and travel agents that promise a castle and deliver a toilet.

Often we discovered very nice little places that are not on the internet at all, like small lodging houses where one becomes part of the family, and gets the opportunity to learn the culture and the language.

This site has developed from ideas around the camp fire and we owe much gratitude to the backpackers (and the millionaires) that have all contributed in some way.

Perfection is a never ending story and we hope we getting close to what everyone wanted.

Eco Technology

Eco Technology is a fascinating subject...

From simplicity, like recycling waste food to chickens and getting eggs in return, to more interesting technologies, like making fuel from natural oils, using mountain streams to generate electricity, and using cow manure to make gas for cooking.

It is the future and whenever we see it, we talk about it with enthusiasm, like for example establishments that have managed to get themselves off the power grid, or those that make their own gas for cooking.
